Mathematics course is one of the important pillars of teaching and one of the basic foundations in different levels of education, which is the introduction to the next years to achieve important goals of society, which should always be of special importance by teachers and those involved in education. It should be placed in all the bases and centers that by indexing this course, it is expected that the communities in the coming years will not only have not encountered any problems in this course but will also be able to fulfill the responsibilities assigned in relation to this course. With this brief introduction, I would like to address in my research the causes of elementary students' weakness in mathematics, which I hope will be important.
In the research that I have done in several primary schools and several classes, especially my own class, the fifth grade of Vahdat Elementary School in Parsabad, I have come across results that it is not without merit to mention in this article.
"I have been teaching in the fifth grade of elementary school for about six years. During this time, I do not think that math lessons are very lively and active. I use different teaching methods and various educational and media aids to teach this course, and in the meantime, I have received help from parents of students and various books in this field. After teaching the relevant lesson, I want each of the students or in groups to come to the board one by one and from the name book to solve the exercise related to today's lesson. Students do this, and I give them a grade, both theoretically and practically.
While writing the exercise, I want everyone to pay attention to the blackboard, but this is usually not done actively and out of interest. Some talk - some sleep - some study - some solve the table or laugh in groups. Either way, this class usually takes place without the effective activity and learning of most students. »
This situation was not very good for me and the students. I decided to make as much change as I could in this unfavorable situation of the math class. To do this, I thought it would be better to first ask the students themselves why the math class is so soulless and It is inefficient. One day I decided to discuss the matter with them in such a situation. I stood in front of them, was silent for a few minutes and watched their movements and behavior; A few minutes passed like this. The class calmed down and everyone was silent. I asked the students to put all the items on their desks and discuss them in the discussion I wanted, and everyone agreed.
